Claudia Estell Savage, 81 of Clovis, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center following an illness.
She was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Roby, Texas, to Claud Justiss and the former Commie Chandler.
She was raised and attended school at Roby. She married Dan Owen Savage on April 6, 1942, in Biloxi, Miss. She made her home in Melrose for many years, where she worked at City Cleaners. She also worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Eastern Star for many years. She moved to Deming for 16 years where she assisted with the family ranch. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died April 6, 2002; her parents; two sisters, Helen Ballard and Evelyn Miller; and a brother, Denmon Justiss.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharen Fraze (and husband, Max) of Clovis; two sons, Sidney Savage (and wife, Charlsie) of T or C, and Rodney Savage (and wife, Scotty) of Portales; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner.
The Rev. Anna Teeter officiated.
Burial was in the family plot at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Wyre, Wade Fraze, Wesley Fraze, JoSeth Savage, Joab Savage and Jim Fox.
Honorary bearers were her friends and relatives.
Memorial contributions may be made to the N.M. Boys Ranch.
