Cannon Airman Randy Moore rebounded from a bogey on the first hole to shoot a 1-under-par 70 and grabbed the lead after the first round of the Clovis city golf championship Saturday at Clovis Municipal Golf Course.
Moore leads Clovis High standout Travis Reid by a stroke with Jimmy Dominguez and Tom Harden another stroke back at 72.
Lurking four strokes back is 2000 champion and Clovis High boys coach George Simmons.
Defending champion Angel Martinez failed to make the championship flight after a 6-over 77.
The 36-hole tournament concludes today with tee times at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The leaders are scheduled to tee off about 1:50 p.m.
Moore strung together back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth holes and added another on the 569-yard par 5 eighth hole to finish the front side at 2-under 33.
He started the back nine with back-to-back bogeys to start the backside and dropped to even par before finishing his round with a birdie and six pars.
Reid rallied late to finish at even par with birdies on No. 15 and No. 17, both par 5s. He toured the front side at 1-under.
