The Clovis City Commission will consider introducing an ordinance authorizing the sale of the Memorial Service Center (Old Hospital) to Matt. 25 Inc. for $1 at its Thursday meeting.
The commission will hold its regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. in the North Annex of Clovis-Carver Public Library.
Final approval of the resolution allowing the sale of the building will be considered next month.
Also on the commission’s agenda is a resolution approving March 2, 2004, as the date for a municipal election. On the ballot will be the election of the mayor and four commissioners, and approval of two changes in the city charter. A resolution placing a city gross receipts tax increase on the same ballot will be considered Dec. 18.
The commission also will consider Thursday introducing a resolution that would allow increasing the mayor’s and commissioners’ salaries by $2,000 a year. The mayor now receives $6,000 a year and commissioners receive $5,000 a year. Final approval would be considered at a later date.
