Clovis police have offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information about the Sunday morning shooting death of Carlos Murillo.
Sgt. Roger Grah of the Clovis Police Department said anyone with information on the shooting may call him at 769-1921 or, if they want to remain anonymous, may call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 763-7000.
“It’s a system where people can make anonymous tips to the police with a cash reward at the end if information proves to be beneficial in the arrest and conviction of the suspect,” Grah said.
Grah said the homicide investigation was going well and confirmed that a vehicle impounded during the investigation was a gold Cadillac Escalade that witnesses had seen headed away from the site of the shooting. However, Grah said he didn’t want to release any names of suspects until officers completed their interviews.
Mounting a major investigation is standard practice when homicides occur in Clovis, Grah said.
“Definitely when it comes to a homicide we bring the whole team in; we bring in all detectives and we work hard to bring in as much information as we can,” Grah said. “In most cases we work until the case is solved.”
According to police department records, the city of Clovis has had 22 homicides since 1997. That’s a significant increase from earlier years; from 1992 to 1996, the city had no homicides or only one per year.
