Elva Sims, 87, of Lubbock died Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Lubbock.
She was born on May 7, 1916, in Bowie, Texas.
She married Sam Sims in 1950 in Clovis. She was a hard worker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a “Rosey the Riveter” during World War II, when she drove a forklift and was one of the few who were allowed to wear pants because of her job.
Survivors include a son, James Fry (and wife, Valeria) of Kerrville, Texas; a stepdaughter, Leslie Yvonne Widner (Harold) of Clovis; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Ken Horn will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
