Records: Texico 2-0, Bovina 0-2

The difference: Texico rushed for 387 yards and finished with 443 total yards.

The difference makers: Texico, Senior QB Braden Vaughan threw for two TDs and rushed for another. Senior CB Tony Clements caught one TD pass and intercepted two passes.

Number crunching: Texico won its 13th straight game and posted its second straight shutout

Fort Sumner 39, Capitan 13

Records: Fort Sumner 2-0, Capitan 1-1

The difference: After Capitan pulled within 14-13 with 8:46 left in the third quarter, Fort Sumner rattled off the game’s final 25 points.

The difference makers: Fort Sumner, Ryan Fikany rushed for 167 yards and 4 TDs. Capitan, Andrew Silva finished with 109 yards rushing and two TDs, including a 91-yard jaunt.

Number crunching: Capitan has 10 penalties for 125 yards.

The difference: Muleshoe explosed for 28 points in the second quarter, including Josh Shelburne’s recovery of a Sanford-Fritch fumble in the end zone that put the Mules’ a 42-0 halftime lead,

The difference makers: Muleshoe, Sophomore QB Brant Hamilton rushed for 67 yards and two TDs and passed for another. Sanford-Fritch, Chad Marshall had three catches for 45 yards.

Number crunching: Muleshoe has allowed six points in two games.

Farwell 39, Dimmitt 12

Records: Farwell 2-0, Dimmitt 0-2

The difference: Farwell scored four TDs in the final 6:34 of the first half, including two in a 14-second span.

The difference makers: Farwell, senior QB Robbie Tabb passed for 126 yards and two TDs and rushed for two more. Dimmitt, Charley Saenz had five catches for 106 yards and a TD.

Number crunching: The teams comined for nine fumbles, with each team losing four.

The difference: Senior QB Tyler Rutherford scored on a 67-year run with 4:30 left in the third quarter to ghive the Rams the flea for good.

The difference makers: Portales, Rutherford finished with 312 yards of total offense, including 186 rushing. Tularosa, Robert Abercrombie rished for 65 yards and two short TDs.
Number crunching: Portales forced three Tularosa turnovers to none for the Rams.
