Keys to game:Texico coach Mike Prokop said his team needs to control the ball and not turn it over. The secondary will have to be in top form against Vasquez, who is back from last year’s team. Prokop said he throws the ball exceptionally well and if the Wolverines don’t put pressure on him, he’ll pick the secondary apart.
By the numbers: This is the second straight week the Wolverines have faced a 6-0 team.

Faith Christian Academy at Melrose (7-0)

Keys to game: Melrose coach Dickie Roybal said the Buffaloes just need to play their game against Faith Christian.
Quotable: “I don’t know anything about them, to be honest.” — Roybal on Faith Christian, which is located in Espanola.
Notes: Melrose added Faith Christian Academy after House dropped off the schedule. Melrose QB Brock Graham is back after breaking his leg in a preseason scrimmage and may play Friday. Roybal said his team is already looking ahead to undefeated Floyd on Oct. 22. They’ve been working on new defensive schemes and blitzes.

Mora (2-4) at Fort Sumner (4-3)

Fort Sumner’s game against Escalante was canceled. Mora had a bye.

Mora players to watch: Jeorge Trujillo, QB, 5-7 196, Jr.; Javis Cruz, WR/DB, 5-9 145, Sr.
Keys to game: Fort Sumner coach Dexter McDaniel said his team needs to stop Mora’s passing game and big plays while holding onto the football.
Quotable: “Any district game is crucial for us.” — McDaniel on the importance of winning the first district game of the season.
Notes: Fort Sumner linemen Adrian Collaso and Arley Head should be back in the lineup after missing a few games with injuries.

Clovis Christian (2-5) at Floyd (6-0)

Clovis Christian lost to Melrose 74-20. Floyd beat San Jon 66-6.
Last meeting: 2003, Floyd beat Clovis Christian 50-0.
Floyd players to watch: Jerrod Long, RB
Keys to game: Clovis Christian coach Carlos Velasquez said his team has to score more than 20 points. Sean Sena is moving to quarterback and Velasquez is shifting around players to put more size on the offensive line. Defensively, the Eagles need to stop Floyd’s Long.
By the numbers: Clovis Christian lost to San Jon 44-30 in September. Floyd beat San Jon by 60.
Notes: Corey Hastings should be back near 100 percent after missing two weeks of practice.

Sudan (5-1, 1-0) at Bovina (1-5, 0-1)

Last week:
Sudan beat Farwell 27-8. Bovina lost to Springlake-Earth 35-13.
Sudan players to watch: Kade Gaston, QB, Sr. Michael Warren, WR, Sr.
Keys to game: Bovina coach Kent Torbert said his team is going to stay in the spread offense longer. Last week, his receivers a had a few dropped passes, so he’s moving those players out of the starting lineup and putting in younger players. “It’s younger kids we’re counting on, ability rather than experience,” Torbert said. Defensively, the Mustangs have to limit the big play.
By the numbers: Sudan starts 10 seniors on offense.
Quotable: “He’s a home run threat every time they touch the ball.” — Tobert on Sudan’s Warren.
Notes: Senior RB Josh Shelby’s shoulder is still bothering him, but he could see some time.

Hart (1-5, 0-1) at Farwell (3-3, 0-1)

Hart lost to Nazareth 49-0. Farwell lost at Sudan 27-8.
Last meeting: 2003, Farwell won 33-6.
Hart players to watch: Joey Martinez WR/DB. Angel Beanes DT/OT
Keys to game: A fast start. Farwell has fallen behind early in its last three games — all losses — and needs a confidence boost. The Steers hope to force Hart to throw the ball, which is their weakness on offense.
By the numbers: Farwell has not scored 24 points in its last three games.
