The IHOP Restaurant being built near the Prince and 21st street intersection will be open within the next week or two, according to IHOP corporate spokesperson, Patrick Lenow.
He said the building is designed to seat 132 patrons and will be the 10th IHOP location in New Mexico.
The restaurant will employ between 80 and 100 people on an ongoing basis, he said. Included in that number will be a mixture of full- and part-time hosts and hostesses, cashiers, wait staff and cooks.
Besides IHOP, another construction project has started just north of the intersection that will eventually become New Mexico’s first Advanced Auto Parts store.
David Petty, who is constructing the facility and will be renting it to Advanced once the building is complete, said he has no ownership in the new business. He is simply going to be the landlord.
However, he said Advanced contacted him several months ago. The original completion date was set for Feb. 13, but because of a minor delay at the start of the project he now expects it to be complete by early March.
