Willard Patterson

Willard “Pat” Patterson, 85, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the Muleshoe Area Medical Center.

He was born on May 23, 1919, in Curry County, to James and Elizabeth Patterson.

He graduated from high school in Floyd. He was an all-star basketball player and won a scholarship to New Mexico State University. He married Lois Fisher on Feb. 2, 1942, in Altus, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II and afterwards came back to northern Curry County and started farming. Family members said he enjoyed playing dominos, and was on the domino team in Clovis for many years, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters, Nellie Gillis, Sallie Chandler, Martha Roff, and Maudy Patterson; and a brother, Doc Patterson.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Moelius (and husband, Bob) of Clovis; a son, Robert Patterson of Clovis; a granddaughter, Janey Howell (Roy) of White River, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Howell of White River, Texas; a great-grandson, Tye Howell of White River, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sam Kelley will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers are Clyde Shadix, Joe Allen, Eldred Brown, Jack Patterson, Roy Howell, and Storm Gerhart.
