Police looking for suspect in woman’s assault
Police are looking for a male suspect who assaulted a woman at 1:30 p.m. Friday at her home on the 900 block of Connelly street, according to a Clovis Police Department press release.

The woman told police the man knocked on her door and tried to force his way into her house. He attempted to remove her shirt and ripped it in the process, the release said.

The victim’s dog began barking and the man ran off, Lt. James Schoeffel of the Clovis police said.

The woman suffered a minor injury to her hand in the struggle, Schoeffel said.

The woman described the man as black, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds with medium-length black hair, wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, according to the release.

The attacker has not been located or identified as of Friday night, according to Lt. Rich Johnson of the Clovis police.

Class of 1966 reunion meeting set for Nov. 7

Senior center officer nominees sought
Nominations for officer’s positions for the Portales Seniors will be accepted through Thursday. The senior center members will be electing a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and one trustee. The election will be by paper ballot Nov. 10 at the center from 9 to 11 a.m.

Seniors may submit a name or names of nominees to director Jim Good, president, or Wanda Grider by calling 356-8741 or visiting the center at 501 N. Industrial Dr.
