Noble, Eldred

Eldred Allen Noble, 74, of Clovis, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born on Dec.16, 1930, to Walter and Eula Cone Noble in Dimmitt, Texas. He married Verda Lou Watkins on Sept. 3, 1950, in Floyd. She preceded him in death. He married Marjorie Dutton Freeman on Jan. 7, 1989, in Portales.

He was the owner/operator of Noble Pilot Car Service. He was a member of the Clovis City Commission for two terms. He was involved in the redesign of the wastewater treatment plant and a supporter of the Ute water pipeline. He was active in the public works department. Family members said he was hardworking and involved in politics. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis and the High Plains Good Sam RV club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert Eugene Noble; sister Lorraine Gallman; his first wife; and stepson Jeffrey Freeman.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mary Dee Sevey (and husband John), Deantha Kay Cotton (Larry), Karen Lou Thurman, Janet Lenora Daylon (Preston), all of Big Spring, Texas, and Melinda Sue Murphree (Jeff) of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Eldred LaRue “Rudy” Noble and Charles Richmond Noble, both of Big Spring, Texas; two step-sons, Steve Freeman (Esther) of Las Vegas, N.M. and Paul Freeman (Mary) of Clovis; sister, Mary Leona Hennington of Midland, Texas; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Wayne Salguero and Rev. Jim Troutman are officiating.

Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held at the funeral home until services. Pallbearers will be Richard Thurman, P.J. Daylong, Kenneth Noble, Justin Cotton, Jacob Murphree, Joseph Noble and Joshua Noble.
