June 30, 2006 Police Blotter

At 11:30 p.m. June 23 an officer investigated a man passed out in a vehicle in the 1200 block of west Seventh Street. The officer woke the man by trying to get him out of the car, noting a strong odor of alcohol, and the man swayed and wobbled. He was transported to the adult detention center.

About 9:30 p.m. Saturday officers responding to several callers were dispatched to 13th and Edwards streets about shots fired and found six 9 mm casings in the street. Two witnesses said they saw a car pass, and one witness said the shots came from the vehicle’s left side. Officers were unable to find the vehicle. There was no property damage and no injuries.

At 5 p.m. Sunday in an alley behind Harrison Street, an officer encountered two dirt-bike riders traveling at a high rate of speed. He followed them to get them to pull over, but the riders continued going, eventually pulling over. The officer hand-cuffed them and discovered they were minors. They told him they ran because they were scared. The mother of one of the boys was called, and they were released to her custody.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday an officer was dispatched to a grocery store in the 1900 block of Prince Street to investigate shoplifting of beer. A woman said a man running for a truck driven by someone else ran her son over with a shopping cart. The officer went to a house in the 2100 block of Pile Street and saw a man getting out of his truck with the beer. The man was arrested for shoplifting, and the driver, a juvenile, was issued a citation and released to his mother.
