The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission has set the proceedings schedule for the rate increase requested by New Mexico-American Water Co.

Interventions objecting to the proposed increases must be filed on or before Sept. 20, according to the PRC hearing notice. They should be sent to PRC’s offices at 224 E. Palace Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87501.

New Mexico-American Water is requesting additional annual revenues of $1.6 million from its water utility operations in its Clovis service district, representing an increase of about 20 percent above its adjusted water service revenues for the 12 months ending Dec. 31, 2005, according to Kathy Wright, the utility’s vice president.

For a typical residential water service customer using 10,000 gallons of water a month, Wright said the monthly rate would increase 21 percent from $38.20 to $46.24, or about 27 cents a day.

A public hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at the PRC’s Santa Fe offices at 224 East Palace Ave.
