RUIDOSO —Jasiman Dykes and Cassie Belford scored goals Saturday as Clovis High’s girls edged Ruidoso 2-1.

The Lady Wildcats (3-4-2) trailed 1-0 when Ruidoso’s Allison Rigby scored with about six minutes left in the half. But Dykes countered three minutes later on an assist from Calie Rush.

Belford got the game-winner in the 70th minute on a penalty kick.

“We played a lot of good balls, but we just couldn’t finish,” CHS girls coach Shane Leatherwood said. “We missed some opportunities on corners and crosses, but we played most of the game in their end.”

In the junior varsity match, Clovis beat the Lady Warriors 3-2 with goals from Taiesha Bosque, Taylor Corley and Macy Molina.
