Clovis transit facility construction begins
Construction of a new Clovis Area Transit System facility is under way and should be complete by next winter, according to CATS Director Mary Lou Kemp.

Ten years in the planning, the project includes the construction of an administration building and enclosed compound and vehicle storage. The new facility will be located between Sixth and Seventh streets and Axtell and Wallace streets, according to Kemp.
LCI 2 of Clovis won the construction contract for the project in October 2006 for $1.78 million.

The project is funded by a $1.6 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, with the city paying the balance.

The public transit system provides curb-side service in Clovis for a small fee.
