The League of United Latin American Citizens Council 8050, serving Clovis and the surrounding area, has scheduled a meeting for 6 p.m. today at the Lincoln Jackson Family Center.

The meeting will include a town hall portion, mainly focusing on opposition to the proposed Clovis Ethanol plant.

New Mexico LULAC Executive Director Martin Gutierrez will be at the meeting.

“I just want to come in and visit with folks and find out if we can garner state and national support for them as they continue to battle against the placement of the ethanol plant in its current proposed location,” Gutierrez said in a release.

With Gutierrez’ help, council president David Briseno said LULAC would try to use a unified voice to leverage against the plant location at the state and national levels.
