Business Digest: Career expo planned

The New Mexico Workforce Connection Career Expo 2007 is set for April 13 and 14 at the Clovis Civic Center, according to a Department of Labor document.

Employers interested in participating may download a registration form from the New Mexico Department of Labor Web site, posted under “job fairs,” or call Local Veterans Employment Representative Matt Barela at 762-4571.
The registration fee is $35. Register by April 10.

The fair hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 13 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 14. Employers are asked to set up between 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. April 13, the document reads.

Foundation taking grant proposals
Grant proposals for 2007 are being accepted by the R.D. & Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation of Ruidoso, according to a foundation news release.

Grant proposals will be accepted from municipal and county governments, public schools and 501-c-3 nonprofit organizations in Curry and Roosevelt counties, as well as Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln and Otero counties, the release reads.

Deadline to submit proposals is May 1. Proposals should explain how projects can improve the quality of life in a specific area. Grants will be awarded in August in amounts varying from $1,000 to $20,000 with a total of $225,000 to be granted.
