A Clovis teen was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses said he put a knife to the neck of another man and threatened to cut him, according to police reports.
Rueben Stickle, 19, is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 bond, jail officials said.
The 24-year-old victim said he was awakened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday by yelling in the 1100 block of Wallace Street outside his home and went on his porch. He said Stickle was in the street yelling at neighbors to get someone to fight with him, the report said.
The man said he told Stickle to be quiet and Stickle approached him wanting to fight and placed a knife against his throat. The man said he began punching Stickle out of fear for his safety.
Witnesses gave the same account, according to the report.
Because Stickle appeared to be intoxicated and was having trouble standing, officers were unable to take a statement from him, the report said.
