The Orange County (Calif.) Register named a newspaper veteran from Arizona as its new publisher Wednesday and a former Freedom New Mexico publisher was promoted as part of the change.
N. Christian Anderson III prepares to leave after 27 years with the OCR and its parent company, California-based Freedom Communications, Inc.
Anderson will leave the newspaper Sept. 15. He will be replaced by Terry Horne, publisher of the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Ariz., which also is owned by Freedom. Former Freedom New Mexico publisher Julie Moreno will take over as publisher of The East Valley Tribune on Sept. 10.
The executive changes are part of a company reorganization in which the metro and community newspapers will be combined into one division that will be led by Jon Segal, the head of Freedom’s Community Newspapers division.
Moreno moves to the Tribune from her role as publisher of The Sun in Yuma, Ariz. She will continue in her role as vice president of the community newspaper’s division’s Pacific region as well.
Moreno was publisher of the Clovis News Journal from 1995 to 2000.
