The roar of 20 motorcycles thundered through the warehouse at the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico Dec. 6.

The riders, many clad in camouflage and blaze orange reflective vests, are members of the 27th Special Operations Wing Riders Group.
The group, which often rides for pleasure, was on a mission to deliver some help for the holidays. Upon their arrival at the food bank, the riders opened leather saddle bags and canvas backpacks to reveal bags of cereal and canned goods.

According to Cannon Air Force Base Master Sgt. Glenn Pugh, the motorcycle group tries to accomplish a “food bank run” quarterly. “Deployment schedules make that difficult though,” Pugh said.

The Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico partners with public and private sectors by collecting, warehousing and distributing food to charities, according to www.nmfoodbanks.org.

Nancy Taylor, executive director of the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico, said the motorcycle group donated 155 pounds of food. “We were out of cereal,” Taylor said. “So, this is a blessing.”
