SAN JOSE, Calif. — New Mexico State captured its second Western Athletic Conference championship in three years on Wednesday, finishing the three-day conference meet at 27-over-par 891 for a five-stroke margin over Boise State.

The Aggies overcame the loss of sophomore Josh Stewart, who was forced to withdraw after an opening-round 67 due to a wrist injury. Junior Kevin Lozares of Mountain View, Calif., led the Aggies, finishing third at 69-77-74 — 220.
