The 6-year-old redheaded girl pointed at the nearby horses and jumped up, still clutching the candy she caught from parade participants.
She called to her grandmother, who sat beside her on Main Street in front of the Clovis-Carver Library.
“See the horses!” an excited Jaidyn Roark said to her grandmother, Darla Roark.
Meanwhile, Roark’s grandson Kayle waved at the tractors, which are his favorite part of Saturday’s 38th Annual Pioneer Parade.
“His grandfather takes him on tractor rides,” she said.
The parade had more than 100 entries, according to Parade Chairman John Montano.
There were about 80 entries last year, he said.
The parade was part of the Pioneer Days, a week-long event that also featured a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association competition.
Parade entries included the Clovis High School Marching Band, the Miss Rodeo contestants and past winners, rodeo contestants, and other local community and commercial organizations.
Roark said her family tries to make it to at least one rodeo event, but the parade is a don’t-miss.
“We enjoy the parade every year,” she said.
