Former airman sentenced for child solicitation

A 19-year-old former Cannon Air Force Base airman was sentenced to a year in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to child solicitation by electronic device, according to court records.

Michael Lee Harvey will also be required to serve two years supervised probation after his release, according to a release from the District Attorney Matt Chandler.

Chandler said the offense is not one that requires sex offender registration.

According to the release:

• Harvey was arrested in February when he tried to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

• Sheriff’s deputies, who had been investigating Harvey through a decoy Internet profile, caught him as he walked to a residence where he believed the girl lived.

• Harvey admitted to authorities that he thought it might be a setup, but acknowledged he was coming to the house of a girl he thought to be 13 years of age with intentions of engaging in sexual activity with her.
