Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About noon July 16 an animal control officer took a report of an animal bite at the shelter.

A volunteer said a finger on her right hand was bitten by a Dalmatian.

She said she was photographing the dog for the shelter Web site.

About 3 p.m. July 16 an officer responded to a business parking lot in the 2000 block of Prince Street for a battery report.

A teen girl said a 15-year-old boy she knew approached as she was walking with friends and knocked her soda out of her hand, said some words to her, and punched her in the cheek.

The officer noted the 15-year-old had redness around her cheek. The suspect could not be located.

Around 5 p.m. July 16 an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of South Prince in reference to fraud.

The business owner said some customers selling scrap metal cheated him out of almost $700.

He said when they weighed their load, there were three occupants in the vehicle. When it was time to get an empty weight, there were two less people in the vehicle.

He said the same group had cheated him three times. The officer collected identifications of the suspects.

About 9 p.m. July 16 an officer responded to a residence in the area of Tierra Blanca and Gidding for a report of a drunken driver.

An off-duty officer said a vehicle ran him off the road so he followed it and saw a male subject get out, stumble up to the porch of a residence and pass out.

The officer found the subject lying on the porch with his keys clutched in his hand. He noted after he woke the man and asked him how much he’d had to drink, the suspect told him, “not enough.”

The 29-year-old refused field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Around 9 p.m. July 16 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a battery report.

When the officer arrived, he saw a woman holding back another woman armed with a baseball bat and yelling threats at a residence.

The officer handcuffed the woman and made contact with the victims in the house. A woman said the 42-year-old woman in custody attacked her during an argument and also punched her 11-year-old daughter in the face.

The officer noted injuries to the woman and child.

The woman was arrested for aggravated assault and child abuse.
