Security levels raised — Individuals visiting the base Monday through Aug. 29 can expect delays and Force Protection Condition levels increase due to an annual installation-wide anti-terrorism exercise.

Base officials suggest that individuals who live outside the local area and need access to Cannon should consider rescheduling their visits as access to areas such as the commissary, base exchange, or clinic could be difficult.

The exercise fulfills a Department of Defense and Air Force Special Operations Command requirement that requires participation by all 27th Special Operations Command and tenant units.

During the latter part of the exercise only mission-essential and commercial delivery vehicles will be allowed access through the Portales Gate. All privately owned vehicles must use the Main Gate entrance.

The pharmacy will maintain current operation hours during this time; it is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pharmacy is closed on the first Monday of the month for wing training.

Bicycling opportunities — Biking enthusiasts of all levels, male or female are being sought to form an outdoor riders group for twice-monthly rides.
