A Cannon Air Force Base airman injured in a motorcycle crash last week is improving, according to a Cannon spokesman.

Dara Prak is coherent, aware and has been able to communicate with caregivers, though he is still on a respirator, according to Staff Sgt. Brandon Seals of Cannon Public Affairs.

Seals said reports are optimistic Prak will recover from his injuries.

The 24-year-old was flown to a Lubbock hospital Sept. 9 and was listed in critical condition because of injuries he sustained when he crashed a motorcycle on La Salle Drive. Police said he failed to execute a curve in the road and crashed in a yard.

A police report indicated he had several broken bones and other injuries.

No citations have been issued.
