ENMU squads finish seventh at Texas Tech

LUBBOCK — Sophomore Logan Robertson and freshman Yared Gamiz led Eastern New Mexico’s cross country squads to seventh-place team finishes Friday in the Texas Tech Jackrabbit Open.

Robertson finished 43rd in a field of 109 men’s runners, posting a time of 28 minutes, 11.32 seconds over eight kilometers. Senior Derek Henio and junior gilbert Manzanares were 49th and 50th, respectively, for the Greyhounds.

South Plains College finished with 30 points to upend the host Red Raiders, who were second with 53 points. ENMU came in at 208.

Gamiz posted a time of 22:48.11 for the Zias over a 5K course, also finishing in 43rd place in a field of 86 runners. Next in line for ENMU was senior Monica Jasso in 49th place.

Texas Tech notched team honors with 25 points to 53 for second-place Wayland Baptist. The Zias had 19 points.

ENMU returns to action on Oct. 14 in the Angelo State Classic.
