Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 10 p.m. Sept. 14 an officer responded to a home at an undisclosed address for a shooting.

The officer noted on his arrival a male was holding a towel around the ankle of a 21-year-old woman.

The man said he was showing his grandfather’s .22 caliber rifle to the woman and another man when he accidentally fired a shot.

The woman was struck in the leg.

The other two gave the same account of events.

The woman was transported to the hospital and the gun was taken into evidence.

About 9 a.m. Sept.. 15 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for an assault report.

A man said the mother of his child threw a food container at him, threatened him with a knife and stabbed the tires on his vehicle.

The woman said they were arguing and she found a crack pipe in his vehicle and was angry because she is on probation and didn’t want that kind of stuff around.

She said he threatened her with a knife.

The officer noted both had marks on them consistent with an altercation.

Since he could not tell who the aggressor was, he arrested both for battery on a household member.

About 2 p.m. Sept. 15 an officer responded to a school in the 1900 block of Thornton for a student with drugs.

School administrators said they received a report of a student that smelled like marijuana.

When they searched him they found a small baggy of marijuana.

The officer noted intent to issue the teen a citation upon his return to school.

About 9 p.m. Sept. 15 an officer took a report of a robbery at a restaurant in the 1000 block of Main Street.

A 17-year-old female said she ordered food and had gone back to her vehicle when a man approached her window and demanded she give him money.

She said she was scared and handed him more than $80 and he left.

Witnesses said they saw the man asking people for money.

The officer was able to get an identification of the suspect and noted intent to seek a warrant for robbery.

About 11 p.m. Sept. 15 an officer stopped in the 100 block of Hickory Street for a suspicious circumstance.

The officer noticed a chain link fence in the road and found an area of fencing that had been run over and the poles ripped out of the ground by a vehicle leaving the lot.

The owner said a semi-truck that had been parked there was missing.
