A Clovis woman is being investigated for forging doctors’ notes to explain her child’s absences from school.

Clovis Municipal Schools officials contacted police about a week ago and turned over 14 doctors’ notes the suspect had sent to her daughter’s Clovis elementary school to explain her absences, according to a police report released Monday.

The officer discovered the notes were from doctors’ offices in Clovis, Amarillo and Fort Sumner.

The child missed 50 days of school since November 2007, five of which were covered by valid doctor’s notes, the officer stated in his report.

The officer noted he intends to seek a warrant for 14 felony counts of forgery and child neglect.
