Dec. 4 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 10 p.m. Nov. 22 an officer on duty in the area of 16th and Prince Streets was told of a subject seen carrying a firearm.

Officers located the subject and after a brief foot pursuit, took the man into custody.

A sawed-off shotgun was found in bushes along the path the 18-year-old man had fled.

He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.

About 7 a.m. Nov. 23 an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Stratford Lane for a burglary report.

The resident said the night prior he was at work and his girlfriend arrived home and found the door unlocked.

When she entered the home, she discovered a pornographic movie playing on the television that had been ordered through pay-per-view and the family dog was suffering from a leg injury.

He said nothing was taken from the home but he suspected a former romantic partner because he said he had experienced the same problem before.

About 8 p.m. Nov. 24 an officer responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Sheridan Street for a criminal trespass report.

A man said he and his wife were sitting in their living room watching TV when a man entered their house carrying a bottle of whiskey.

He said the man walked through the living room, into the hallway and began knocking on a closet door.

The resident said he kept trying to get the man to leave but he was obviously intoxicated and just continued holding onto his bottle, so the resident said he got the man to sit on the couch until police arrived.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and also charged with criminal trespass.

Around 9 p.m. Nov. 24 an officer responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Plains and Manana Streets.

A woman driving westbound said she stopped at the intersection because she didn’t realize the stop signs previously there had been removed. Realizing her mistake, she said she accelerated and was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The other driver said she was stopped at a stop sign in the southbound lane. She said she saw the other woman stop, and was unaware the stop sign on the other driver’s side had been removed, so entered the intersection, striking the other vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was cited for failure to yield and driving without a license.
