Like previous Christmas Light Parades Clovis MainStreet Director Robyne Beubien is bracing for a cold Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures on Saturday to hit lows in the 30s.
Despite facing a frosty evening, Beubien said she expects more than 100 entries for the parade, which starts at 6 p.m. Entries parade down Main Street beginning at 14th Street, and ending at Grand Street.
“It’s always freezing during the Christmas parade, that’s always the way it is,” she said.
She said there are about 50 entries at present. Entries include marching groups, automobiles and floats decorated with Christmas lights featuring a rock ‘n’roll motif. The deadline to sign up for the parade is 4 p.m. today.
She said this year’s theme is Clovis Rocks.
“A lot of people go all out and embrace that theme,” she said.
After the parade an award ceremony will be held at the Masters Center at 8 p.m.
Clovis MainStreet has been organizing the parade for four years after taking it over from the Chamber of Commerce. Chamber director Ernie Kos said this is the 12th year of the parade. She said the Sertoma Club organized the parade years before.
