The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest for killing a pair of mule deer discovered near Portales.

Game and Fish investigators say a doe and a buck were killed and dumped off South Roosevelt County Road 8 sometime last Monday.

Both deer were skinned and left in the field to rot. The head of the buck had been removed. No meat was taken from either animal.

Anyone with information concerning the poaching can call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-432-4263. Callers may also contact the Roswell Game and Fish office at (575) 624-6135.

Callers need not identify themselves or testify in court. If the information leads to an arrest or charges, the caller is eligible for the $500 reward.
