A Clovis man was sentenced Wednesday to 59 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a woman more than two years ago.
Last week, a jury convicted Anthony Morgan, 36, of kidnapping, criminal sexual penetration, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery and six counts of assault against a household member.
In October 2006 a woman reported to police Morgan started an argument with her, then forced her to drive him around Clovis for several hours, beating her and threatening her with a gun.
The woman said they drove to a secluded spot in the county and Morgan violently raped her, then held her against her will for two days, repeatedly assaulting her until he eventually released her, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.
