Wayne Marshall, current principal of Moriarty High School, is the new principal at Clovis High School.

Superintendent Rhonda Seidenwurm made the announcement Friday. She said current CHS principal Jody Balch announced his retirement in March.

The interview committee consisted of two high school teachers, a parent from the governing council, the CHS student body president, freshman campus principal Diane Russell, deputy superintendents LaDonna Clayton and Joel Shirley and Seidenwurm.

Seidenwurm said the committee received about 20 applications and interviewed five. The committee unanimously voted to offer Marshall the position.

Seidenwurm said Marshall has worked as the Moriarty High School principal for six years and has elementary experience.

Marshall will be in Clovis between now and the end of the school year to meet faculty and familiarize himself with the district.

He starts July 1.
