The Clovis City Commission is looking at a $13 million bid to redevelop Hotel Clovis during today’s city commission meeting.
The bid comes from Taos-based Tierra Realty Trust, according to City Commissioner Bobby Sandoval.
Sandoval said the redevelopment project proposes renovating the 78-year-old hotel and turning it into a residential property with shops on the ground floor.
The city would shoulder about $500,000 of the project cost, according to Sandoval.
The city acquired the hotel in 2004 and during a March meeting set a a deadline of May 31 to remove toxic materials such as asbestos from the structure and a 2012 deadline to either demolish or refurbish the building.
The meeting is scheduled at 5:15 p.m. today at the Clovis-Carver Library North Annex.
Other agenda items include:
• A request to approve a liquor license for the Curry County Events Center.
• A request for approval of recommendations to appoint members of the Community Advisory Committee on Water Resource Issues.
• A request for approval to waive dumping fees at the Clovis Regional Landfill for Curry County residents from noon Friday through 5 p.m. Monday for the Great American Clean-up.
• An introduction of an ordinance relating to membership of the Water Policy Advisory Committee; and amending existing code sections.
