Base clinic to extend services

27th Special Operations Medical Group

The 27th Special Operations Medical Group is “surging” to increase access to in-house medical care and health services, effective immediately.

Planned measures will generate more than 200 additional appointments per month in family medicine and pediatrics alone, as well as additional capacity in flight medicine, optometry and physical therapy.

The clinic will ensure access to support services (lab, public health, bioenvironmental engineering, immunizations clinic, Health and Wellness Center, and others) throughout each duty day, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The following are a few of the surge operations that will be in effect:

• Extended staff duty hours to accommodate additional end-of-day appointments

• Patient care delivery from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Wing Training Days, focused on family member access (bookable appointments) with active duty Sick Call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

• Additional acute appointments added to provider templates across the Military Treatment Facility (including family medicine, pediatrics, flight medicine)

• Cross-booking of appointments between pediatrics, family medicine and flight medicine during peak demand periods

• Protected “follow-up” appointments to accommodate ER and other after-hours care follow-up

• Improved “hand-off” to network providers when demand exceeds in-house capacity, facilitating the “downtown” referral appointment experience

To schedule an appointment at the clinic, call 784-2778. Also, a Patient Advocate is available for questions about medical care at the clinic and can be reached at 784-6975.

Base clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, except Federal holidays, wing-directed safety days and noon to 4:30 p.m. on wing training days.

The pharmacy will remain open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on regular duty days.
