Greene Acres Park lake was closed to the public Saturday because of elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria, according to a news release.

Clovis Public Works Director and interim Parks and Recreation Director Clint Bunch said the lake will remain closed until contaminant levels drop to safe levels.

Bunch said the lake will be tested again Monday.

According to the release, the rise in fecal coliform bacteria may have been caused by a blocked sewer line which has since been cleared.

The walking trail and park remain open.
