Day trip: Dinosaur bones on display at museum

Place: Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum.

Location: It is 78.2 miles from Cannon Air Force Base and takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes travel time to get there. The address is 222 East Laughlin Street in Tucumcari.

What activities can you enjoy at this location: People can see dinosaur bones and other items of interest at the museum. There are bronze moldings of dinosaur bones, a large collection of bones, eggs, fossils and fossil history. The Mesaland’s College Museum is operated by the college’s Paleontology Department.

What ages is this place best suited for?: All ages.

Admission prices?: Adults $6.50, Children 5-11 $4 and children 5 and under are free. There are special group rates for 20 or more.

Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday

Special events coming up: There are summer field classes for adults on the first and third weeks in June and the first week in July. The third week of June is the children’s camp. There are morning and evening sessions for different ages.
