The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Clovis sex offender who failed to register and has absconded.

[image#1, align=right, size=medium] John Lewarren Enders, 37, was charged Monday with failing to register as a sex offender and a warrant was issued for his arrest according to court records.

Enders was convicted of criminal sexual contact with a minor in the 9th Judicial District Court in 1995 and sentenced as a habitual offender.

Under conditions of his probation and because of his status as a sex offender, he is required to maintain contact with his probation officer and the sheriff’s office.

Undersheriff Wesley Waller said Enders was being monitored by probation authorities and cut off his ankle bracelet May 16.

A warrant has also been issued for failure to comply with probation, he said.

According to an alert from the sheriff’s office, Enders was last living at 201 Maple Street.

He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

He has a tattoo on his left forearm of an upside down spade with a skull and a vertical knife tattooed on the back of his right shoulder.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call the sheriff’s office at 769-2335 or the Clovis Police Department at 769-1921.
