Nearly 1,000 people attended Saturday’s 19th annual Lone Star Lineman’s Rodeo held at Xcel Energy’s Amarillo Technical Center, according to a news release.

The rodeo showcased the talents of Xcel Energy operations in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

Two Clovis apprentices — Chris Padilla and Charles Lott — competed in the event but did not place.

The top three Xcel Energy Texas and New Mexico teams and apprentices from the Amarillo event earn a trip to the International Lineman’s Rodeo in October in Bonner Springs, Kan., just outside of Kansas City.
