Parmer, Bailey early voting runs through Friday

Parmer and Bailey County voters have a few state races to weigh in on from now until the Nov. 5 general election.

There are no contested elections in Parmer County.

The only contested race in Bailey County features incumbent Republican Deb Stone and Democrat Julian Dominguez vying for justice of the peace.

Early voting runs through Friday at county courthouses.

Other elections of interest on the Texas ballot:

U.S. Representative: The region is part of Texas’ 19th district and is currently represented by Republican Randy Neugebauer, who has served since winning a special election in 2003.

The accountant and real estate developer hails from Lubbock and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

His Democratic opponent is Ranson Canyon engineer Andy Wilson. Running on the Libertarian ticket is finance professor Richard “Chip” Peterson.

State Representative: Warren Chisum, a Pampa rancher, represents the House of Representative’s 88th district. Chisum, a Republican, has been in the office, which represents 19 Texas counties, since 1989.

Chisum, a Republican, is running unopposed for the four-year term.

State Board of Education: Lubbock attorney Bob Craig is seeking his third term serving District 15. He was first elected to the board in 2002.

Craig, a Republican, is opposed by Lubbock composer John Pekowski, a Democrat.
