The following link is to emergency dispatch recordings of 911 calls to the Clovis Police Department the night of a Nov. 17 fatal accident involving officer Stephen Gallegos.
Police say Gallegos was traveling 56 mph in a 35 mph zone and ran a stop sign at Grand and Sycamore, striking a pickup driven by Edith Payton, 40, of Clovis.
A passenger in the Payton vehicle, Mary Castillo, 56, of Clovis died the next day of injuries suffered in the crash.
Payton has been released from a Lubbock hospital and is recovering from serious injuries.
The recordings were obtained Wednesday through a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Clovis News Journal.
