A 24-year-old former Clovis resident battling cancer died Friday night in Pullman, Wash., according to family members.
Virginia Lee, recently recognized for her research in strengthening wheat crops and awarded an honorary Ph.D. from Washington State University, was featured in a Dec. 24 Clovis News Journal story.
Lee was a Clovis native and 2004 Clovis High School graduate.
Funeral arrangements are being made, a spokesperson for the family said.
