The City of Clovis sent out a release Friday ask residents to ensure fireplace ashes are put out prior to placement in trash containers to avoid damage to city equipment.
Legislative and Community Development Director Claire Burroughes said a minor fire broke out in a city garbage truck Friday, resulting from burning ashes dumped by an unknown resident.
The fire was quickly controlled, with no injuries reported.
