Hounds add Northwest Missouri State to 2011 grid schedule

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University has picked up a game against Mid-America Athletics Association power Northwest Missouri State for next season.

The Greyhounds (5-6 in 2010) face the Bearcats, a 2010 NCAA Division II playoff semifinalist, in a noon (MDT) kickoff on Oct. 15 at Maryville, Mo. Northwest Missouri has been a Division II playoff team in 13 of the last 15 seasons, having reached the championship game in five consecutive years (2005-09), and has won the last five MIAA titles.

“We’re extremely excited to go to one of the best venues in Division II,” ENMU coach Mark Ribaudo said. “They’re one of the most successful teams in Division II, and we’re excited to go there and see how we stack up.”

It will be ENMU’s fifth game against a 2010 postseason qualfier. The Hounds have games against playoff teams Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M and Abilene Christian, and against Midwstern State, which played in the Kanza Bowl.
