LUBBOCK — Two more Eastern New Mexico University athletics earned NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks for national competition in Saturday’s Texas Tech Open track meet.

Junior Bill Squire qualified provisionally in men’s shot put, finishing third in 53 feet, 5 3/4 inches, and hammer throw, where he was fourth at 188 feet.

For the women, junior LaDawn Spiller went 18-7 3/4 in long jump, finishing in ninth place.

Also for ENMU, senior Daniel Draper, who already has a provisional qualifying mark in the javelin, threw 211-7 for second place, about 1 1/2 feet short of automatic qualification.

Provisional qualification means an athlete could be selected for the nationals, depending on how many spots are open.

Other ENMU men placing included Mohammed Noor, third in the 3,000 in 15:45.15; Pedro Martinez and Casey Robertson, third in 9:56.86 and fifth in 10:14.73, respectively, in the 3,000 steeplechase, and Robert Matthew, fourth in triple jump at 46-1 1/2.

Other women in the top eight included Bree Lucero, fifth in high jump at 5-1; Danielle Jones, sixth in the 5,000 at 20:17.23; Nicky Reid, sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase at 12:18.15, and Tagan Volberding, sixth in triple jump at 35-10 1/2.
