GOODWELL, OKLA — The Eastern New Mexico University Zias took a long time to get their offense going Wednesday.

After being shutout for the first 10 innings of a non-conference doubleheader at Oklahoma Panhandle State, the Zias rallied for a 7-5 win in the nightcap.

Talena Tippett pitched a complete-game, four-hitter as Panhandle State won the opener 8-0.

Trailing 5-0 after three innings in the nightcap, ENMU (11-32) rallied for seven runs over the next three innings. Junior shortstop Paige Colburn drove in the go-ahead run in Eastern’s five-run sixth inning.

Sophomore Amanda Lale led the Zias’ 10-hit attack, going 3-for-4 and driving in ENMU’s first run with a double in the fourth inning.

Sophomore Brittany Widner scattered 10 hits, only three after the third inning, to earn the complete-game win for the Zias.

The opener was a pitching duel with ENMU’s Erin Roufosso trading zeros with Tippett through four innings.

The Aggies (3-44) capitalized on a pair of Zia errors to strike for five unearned runs in the fifth inning. Panhandle State added three more runs in the sixth to conclude the contest on the eight-run rule. The game snapped Eastern’s 19-game win streak against Oklahoma Panhandle dating back to March 9, 2005.
