Easter caution
The New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Livestock Board is advising families to avoid potential exposure to Salmonella by not giving baby chicks and ducklings to children as Easter gifts.
In the last five years, New Mexico has had 15 Salmonella cases related to
baby chicks. Many of the cases were in young children.
Today in history
On this day in 1995, a massive explosion at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City kills 168 people and injures hundreds more.
The bomb, contained in a Ryder truck parked outside the front of the building, went off at 9:02 a.m. as people were preparing for the workday.
Among the victims of America’s worst incident of domestic terrorism were 19 children who were in the daycare center on the first floor of the building.
