Food at the speed of life: Dump-it cake simple

I recently ran across a recipe that took me back a few years. I was about to move from Las Cruces, my college town, to take my first permanent job in Socorro. My roommate, Kristiana, suggested a going-away party.

During planning, a recipe from my aunt Debbie came up. Kristiana remembered a similar dessert her mother made, and we tried it.

Kristiana liked the cherry pie filling in her mother’s cake, so we used it instead of pineapple. Our cake was tasty with painless preparation.

The party was laid back, except for my friend Ed chasing my other friend Melissa around with a camera because she didn’t want her picture taken. Fun times.
