The “biggest and richest ranch rodeo in the world” begins today at the Curry County Events Center.
Starting with Joe’s Boot Shop double mugging at 1 p.m., the 2011 Resistol All-Around Ranch Rodeo is kicking off a weekend packed with activities and events.
Traditionally held in Waco, Texas, the rodeo will include daily activities and nightly rodeo performances.
Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. the Duke of the Dutch Ovens Chuck Wagon Cook-off will be held at the fairgrounds, with “10 of the best chuck wagon cooks … specially invited to the event,” according to promotional materials.
With a menu including chicken fried steak, beans potatoes, gravy, biscuits and peach cobbler, a chuck wagon breakfast will also be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday followed by Cowboy Church.
With over $500,000 offered in prizes, the rodeo boasts some of the best rodeo competitors in the world and will be featured on RFD TV.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at Joe’s Boot Shop.
Rodeo performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Joe’s Boot Shop or online at www.joesbootshop.com.
